The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has launched efforts to develop a comprehensive cybersecurity framework aimed at safeguarding the country’s critical communications infrastructure.
Announced as part of its wider push to enhance national digital resilience, the NCC said the new framework will set clear guidelines, enforce best practices, and encourage collaboration across government agencies, private companies, and international partners to address cyber threats.
With telecommunications now central to services like finance, governance, healthcare, and education, the NCC warned that rising global cyber risks make a strong defensive posture essential.
The framework supports Nigeria’s National Cybersecurity Policy and Strategy and further positions the NCC as a key player in the country’s digital security efforts.
Beyond protecting networks and data, the initiative also aims to boost investor confidence, protect consumers, and ensure the sustainable growth of Nigeria’s digital economy.
