Pan-African banking group Ecobank has announced a strategic partnership with Google Cloud aimed at transforming financial services across Africa. The collaboration will use artificial intelligence, cloud computing and advanced analytics to enhance digital banking, streamline payments and expand financial inclusion.
A key focus is improving remittance and payment systems by leveraging Google Cloud’s secure infrastructure and API tools. The goal is to deliver faster, more accessible financial services across Ecobank’s network in 33 African countries.
The partnership also emphasizes support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). By using Google Cloud’s BigQuery data platform, Ecobank will generate AI-powered insights to help SMEs access finance, optimize payment systems, and scale operations.
Google Cloud’s Professional Services team will work closely with Ecobank throughout the digital transformation, helping create more intuitive and secure user experiences.
Industry leaders say the move sets a new standard for banking innovation on the continent, offering a blueprint for how cloud technology can boost financial inclusion in emerging markets.
