The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) has opened applications for its revamped MEST AI Startup Programme, aimed at equipping Africa’s top tech talents to build and scale globally competitive AI startups.
MEST, based in Accra, Ghana, has trained and supported African software entrepreneurs for 17 years. Its updated flagship initiative offers a fully funded, seven-month training program followed by a four-month incubation phase. The program provides technical instruction, business coaching, and mentorship from global experts, including professionals from OpenAI, Perplexity, Google, and Meltwater.
“Africa has world-class tech talent, and it’s time AI solutions built on the continent reach users everywhere,” said Emily Fiagbedzi, director of the program.
Selected startups can pitch for pre-seed funding of up to $100,000 and join the MEST portfolio.
The 2026 intake is open to West African founders aged 21–30 with software development experience. Applications are now open.
