If you’re an early-stage startup in Africa harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to tackle real-world problems, Google’s rolling out the red carpet.
Applications are now open for the latest edition of the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa – a three-month program designed to help AI-first startups scale smart, fast and responsibly.
Since its debut in 2018, the accelerator has backed 140 startups from nearly 17 African countries. This year, Google is looking for the next wave of changemakers – startups anywhere from seed to Series A stage, with a working product, at least one founder of African descent, and a bold vision for building ethical AI solutions.
And the perks? They’re not messing around. Selected startups will score up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits, hands-on mentorship from Google engineers and industry pros, and access to a global network of investors, partners, and fellow innovators. There are also deep-dive workshops covering everything from product strategy to leadership to real-world AI implementation.
“Startups are Africa’s problem solvers,” said Folarin Aiyegbusi, Google’s head of startup ecosystem in Africa. “With the right resources, they can scale their impact far beyond local communities. This programme reflects our belief that AI can be transformative when shaped by those who understand the context deeply.”If that sounds like you, applications are officially open.
