Morocco’s Customs and Indirect Tax Administration (ADII) has launched a new project to integrate artificial intelligence into its customs risk analysis systems, in partnership with the World Customs Organization (WCO) and Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
Part of ADII’s strategic plan through 2028, the initiative aims to boost efficiency in customs controls and promote legal trade by using AI for targeting and predictive analysis.
At the launch ceremony, Director General Abdellatif Amrani and stakeholders discussed the role of big data, machine learning, and ongoing digital transformation in strengthening risk management.
A technical mission by WCO-accredited international experts was held from May 19 to 23 at ADII headquarters, assessing current automated systems and shaping an action plan for the next project phases.
ADII called the collaboration a strong endorsement of its goal to build a smarter, more proactive customs system.
Swiss Ambassador Valentin Zellweger, senior WCO officials, and ADII leaders attended the event.
