Airtel Nigeria says its new AI-powered Spam Alert Service has identified more than 9.6 million potential spam messages since its launch on March 13.
Between March 13 and May 20, the service flagged 528,080 on-net (Airtel-to-Airtel) SMS and 9,138,928 off-net messages from other networks as suspected spam. The system analyzes traffic patterns to detect suspicious behavior and protect users from fraudulent or unwanted communications.
The Spam Alert Service is part of Airtel Nigeria’s ongoing push to safeguard its customers using artificial intelligence. The initiative underscores the company’s broader strategy to enhance user safety and improve communication services through advanced technologies.
Airtel said the figures highlight the growing threat of spam in Nigeria’s telecom sector and its commitment to leveraging innovation to combat it.
