Oracle officially opened its new research and development center Tuesday in CasaNearshore Park, marking a major investment in Morocco’s digital economy. The facility is expected to host over 800 engineers, developers, and technicians, with plans to reach 1,000 jobs by 2027.
The inauguration, led by Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, was attended by key government and business leaders, including U.S. Consul General Marissa Scott and Digital Transition Minister Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni. Speakers underscored Morocco’s growing status as a regional tech hub and a magnet for skilled young talent.
“We started with just two people. Soon, we’ll be 600,” said Craig Stephen, Oracle’s EVP of R&D. “Many engineers are choosing to stay—or even return—to Morocco. That’s a true success.”
Spread across seven floors, the new site includes a 120-seat auditorium, 55 meeting rooms, wellness areas, and prayer rooms. More than 300 Moroccan professionals currently work at the center, not including interns.
Oracle is also investing in talent development. In 2024, 92% of interns recommended for hire were offered jobs. For the 2025 program, over 5,000 students have applied, though only 6% will be selected.
Moroccan teams contribute to Oracle’s global R&D efforts, including work on AI, programming languages, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and software quality assurance.
Since entering Morocco in 2017, Oracle has expanded rapidly, including a second center in Agadir opened last year. With its latest investment, the company reinforces Morocco’s role as a digital innovation hub while creating high-skilled local jobs.
