In celebration of their 10-year anniversary, online home decor retailer, xN Studio, has released the Mwanza Collection. Named for the Tanzanian locale where they were produced, the batik designs pay homage to the variety of artisans, countries and textiles that the company has worked with over the past decade. In collaboration with xN Studio’s artisan network based in Uganda and Tanzania, the Mwanza Collection’s textiles came from West Africa, while the work was exclusively completed with artisans in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. The social impact of this launch is direct and significant as it serves as an essential lifeline for the artisans in countries that don’t have access to formal financial safety nets. Ethically sourced with a focus on female empowerment, xN Studio earmarks a portion of proceeds to benefit primary education and arts in Uganda.
