The World Health Organization is urging over 60’s to avoid international travel.
This is as the world grapples with the new Omicron variant.
The advice extends to those who are unwell or vulnerable.
But, the organisation maintains its stance that blanket travel bans will not prevent the spread.
It rather says restrictions will hinder global health efforts.
Countries hastily placed travel bans on Southern Africa after scientists identified the variant.
But, it’s now emerged it was detected in the Netherlands a week before South Africa reported it.
