The Justice Department has confirmed that Chris Hani’s killer, Janusz Walus, will not be released this week.
The department says an agreement has been made between the state attorney and Walus’s legal team.
Walus will remain in custody while he receives medical clearance from prison doctors, following his recovery from an attack earlier this week.
He was stabbed by a fellow inmate on Tuesday following his parole being granted.
Walus has been in jail since 1993 for the murder of the then-SACP leader.
