Tyla Shines Bright at BET 2024 With Two Wins

South African amapiano sensation Tyla swept the BET Awards 2024, claiming two prestigious honors. She first triumphed as Best International Act.

“I didn’t prepare anything, but I just want to thank my tigers, my family, my team. Thank you to BET for always pushing the culture. I’m about to perform, so get ready!” she exclaimed gratefully.

In addition to her Best International Act win, Tyla secured the Best New Artist title and garnered nominations in four categories, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist.

“This is such a blessing to be here. I want to dedicate this to Africa, to all the African stars before me who didn’t have the opportunities I have,” she concluded emotionally.

The night also saw Usher Raymond receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by music executive L.A. Reid. Teyana Taylor and Victoria Monét captivated with their performance of “Bad Girl,” echoing Usher and Beyoncé’s iconic choreography.

Lauryn Hill closed the evening with a powerful set, starting with “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” and moving into “Lost Ones.”

Highlighting the night was a surprise appearance by Wyclef Jean, joining Lauryn Hill for a memorable Fugees reunion performance with a full band.
