The Department of Health have confirmed that the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases identified in South Africa on 28 May 2021 is 1 645 551, with 4 576 new cases reported over the past 24 hours.
Testing Data
The number of tests conducted to date is 11535 429. Of these 39 802 tests were conducted since the last report.
Deaths and Recoveries
In the last 24 hours, 123 deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 0, Free State 38, Gauteng 23, Kwa-Zulu Natal 6, Limpopo 16, Mpumalanga 6, North West 0, Northern Cape 30 and Western Cape 4 which brings the total to 56 293 deaths
The cumulative recoveries now stand at 1 551 520 representing a recovery rate of 93, 8%.
Vaccination Rollout:
The total vaccinated under the Sisonke Programme is 479 768.
The total vaccinated in Phase Two as at midnighttoday is 418 187 . These vaccinations were with the first dose of Pfizer vaccine.
Total individuals vaccinated; Sisonke and Pfizer first dose is 898 955.
