The South African Poultry Association says it has a comprehensive plan in place to contain the Avian influenza outbreak.
The outbreak has been reported in farms in Gauteng, the North West and recently in the Western Cape.
But, the DA says government has failed to take the necessary surveillance measures to protect vulnerable farms.
It’s calling on Agriculture Minister, Thoko Didiza, to prioritise biosecurity.
The party says it’s been waiting for the minster to give details on all animal diseases detected in the country
