The country’s energy crisis does not warrant the declaration of a state of disaster.
So says Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan.
Answering questions in the National Assembly on Wednesday, Gordhan said the unabated power cuts can be better described as a power system emergency.
He says the power utility has planned for up to eight stages of blackouts, to avoid a total collapse of the national grid.
