Nelson Mandela Bay’s dams are literally dried up.
A main dam supplying the populated metro has been shut down because it’s at such a low level.
All the dams together are at just 14 percent capacity.
The metro is currently bolstering the supply with water from the Nooitgedacht Water Treatment scheme.
Mayor Retief Odendaal says it’s now real real that the metro is running out of water.
He’s pleading with residents to do their bit.
