The National Prosecuting Authority has added charges against former eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede.
Gumede and her co-accused will now have to answer to racketeering charges in addition to more than two thousand corruption-related charges against them.
The NPA says it is confident in its case against the accused.
Meanwhile, that corruption case against former eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede and co-accused will likely start in July 2022, according to Durban High Court Judge Achmat Jappie.
The former eThekwini Mayor appeared for pre-trial proceedings at the High Court in Pietermaritzburg on Monday.
