Health Minister Zweli Mkhize will appear before Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Health on Friday morning.
He’ll be answering questions related to a multi-million rand contract awarded to Digital Vibes.
It’s been alleged he benefited from this contract, which was awarded to some of his close associates.
But President Cyril Ramaphosa says Mkhize won’t be suspended.
Neither will he be asked to take a leave of absence while corruption allegations against him are being investigated.
The president says he doesn’t believe the claims of impropriety will taint the country’s vaccination programme and he’s asking the public to trust him to handle this matter.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance has laid criminal charges against Mkhize.
DA Gauteng health spokesperson Jack Bloom says the minister should step aside immediately.
