KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Sihle Zikalala, says the province is fortunate to have a low number of COVID-19 cases.
This is as the third wave sweeps across the country.
Zikalala, however, says these numbers should not lead to complacency, and people should continue to be vigilant and disciplined about following safety precautions.
The province ranks fourth in South Africa when it comes to COVID-19 deaths.
Zikalala says since the start of the pandemic, the province has recorded more than 300,000 infections.
