Eskom says it will be implementing stage 2 loadshedding from Thursday morning with a high probability of in increase to stage 3 in the evening.
This comes after a breakdown of several of its generating units at its power plants, which removed more than 2000MW from the system.
The power provider says to be working hard to return the broken down units back to service.
The constraint supply situation might continue throughout the weekend, so Eskom is urging all South Africans to use electricity sparingly to minimize loadshedding.
