Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Actively Monitoring Tembisa

On Monday morning, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) is actively monitoring portions of Tembisa in response to demands for major protest action.

This followed a social media campaign over the weekend that called for fair and consistent billing, the forgiveness of municipal debt for households, and more police visibility.

EMPD Chief Superintendent Kelebogile Thepa stated that members of his department had been dispatched to the area.

“We would like to implore the Tembisa community to refrain from causing damage to essential infrastructures, and to also consider those who wish to use public roads freely.” We will go to every length to bring the accountable culprits to justice and subject them to the full force of the law.”
