Nelson Mandela Bay mayor, Nqaba Bhanga, is urging President Cyril Ramaphosa to declare the metro a disaster area.
Dam levels continue to decline and are now just above 12 percent.
“I am going to the president to say, do what a president is supposed to do, intervene,” Bhanga said.
Bhanga says that he wants to prevent a crisis by planning properly.
He wants Ramaphosa to prioritise Nelson Mandela Bay and put it under a disaster declaration.
