ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule has been suspended from the party after he failed to step aside.
On Tuesday, the party made the decision to suspend members charged with serious crimes if they refuse to step aside.
He will not be able to represent the organisation until the final outcome of his court proceedings.
Magashule is facing dozens of counts of fraud, theft, corruption, money laundering and more.
This relates to the controversial asbestos removal audit in the Free State.
The asbestos removal project cost more than R250-million and was completed when Magashule was Free State Premier.
The case against Magashule and other co-accused is expected to continue in August this year.
