The additional services between South Africa and Germany will come into effect in October this year when the airline discontinues its operations between Cape Town and Frankfurt.
Passengers can still reach their final destination, Cape Town via Johannesburg.
Key to SAA’s current restructuring plan and the network strategy is building Johannesburg as the strongest hub in Africa.
The airline recently announced that it would be adding aircraft and modernising its fleet beginning this year. This new development will assist SAA with its planned expansion of existing and new routes.
From Johannesburg SAA is able to capture connecting traffic from domestic and regional flights to further increase the total passenger numbers of its international flights.
The route between Johannesburg and Frankfurt is one of SAA’s longest operating routes and will celebrate its 56th anniversary on 1 July 2008.
