First Division teams FC AK and Bay United played to a 0-0 draw in an entertaining Promotion Play-off Final at Eldorado Park Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The two teams will meet again in the second and final leg of the Promotion Play-off Final — to see who will progress to the Absa Premiership next season — at Port Elizabeth's Wolfsons Stadium on Sunday.

Both teams started the game on a high note, but they both failed to create any real goal-scoring chances — especially in the first half.

United threatened first to score, when Jermain Christian found himself unmarked inside the penalty area — but he mistimed his shot and it went wide of goals.

FC AK's best chance of the first half fell to Mark McVeigh in the 32nd minute when he unleashed a powerful shot towards goals, but his shot was tipped over the bar by United 'keeper Tampungu Dikete.

The score remained 0-0 at half-time.

FC AK looked far the most adventurous side in the second half, with United applying a defensive approach and hoping to catch FC AK on the counter.

FC AK were forced to try long-range shots as a result of United's defensive approach, but these efforts at goal failed to trouble Dikete.

When Boitumelo Moleyane's long-range effort flew over the bar midway through the second half, it became even clearer that there would be no winner on the day.

Both teams now have all to play for in the second leg in Port Elizabeth and they will be both going for a win, which could make this second-leg encounter an exciting one.
