Benni McCarthy gave Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince a timely reminder over his goal-scoring skills when he came off the bench to score Blackburn's equaliser against Middlesbrough in Premier League action at the weekend.
"Benni has not scored too many recently although it's difficult when he's not playing and has only a bit-part role here and there," Blackburn midfielder Stephen Warnock told The Telegraph.
He added: "But Benni is a class striker; he's a natural goal-scorer and once he gets back in the team, I'm sure he'll come up with the goods."
Warnock, meanwhile, was quick to refute claims that McCarthy had already become Blackburn's forgotten man, saying: "Forget him at your peril.
"The reason people have forgotten about Benni, if that's the way you want to put it, is because you've got Roque Santa Cruz. Switch off from Benni and concentrate on Roque then Benni will ghost in and that's to his benefit," concluded Warnock.
