SuperSport United striker Glen Salmon believes that his side will overcome the 1-2 first-leg deficit against Mamelodi Sundowns and advance to the final of the lucrative MTN8.

"We did not play to the best of our ability and I think we can improve," Salmon told Sapa.

He added: "Sundowns played well, but we just did not perform on the day. We did not match them and it seemed the guys lacked the fighting spirit."

SuperSport will be hoping to rediscover the same form that saw them come from behind to beat Orlando Pirates 2-1 in the MTN8 quarterfinals.

"Against Pirates we also conceded early," noted Salmon. "So we have to go at them from the first whistle, get the goal and try to wrap up the game. The away-goal gives us that hope, so Sundowns know it's not over. We can make it to the final."

Salmon confessed, however, that he would not like to meet Kaizer Chiefs in the final of the inaugural MTN8 tournament.

"Chiefs are playing really well and I would not want to meet them in the final," said the United marksman.

"They are the best team in the competition at the moment, but I don't see them maintaining this form throughout the season. It will make for a good final though as we (SuperSport-Chiefs) have a history and it will be good for the game and the supporters." SuperSport host Sundowns on Saturday night at the Super Stadium in Atteridgeville — kick-off is at 8pm.

A 1-0 win for SuperSport will see them advance to the final courtesy of the away-goal rule.
