Mamelodi Sundowns coach Trott Moloto is confident of picking up a victory, despite travelling to Egypt with just 16 players to face Haras El-Hodoud in the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.
Despite having the cream of South African soccer at their disposal, Sundowns had to jet out of the country on Tuesday night with 16 players only, as star men like Sibusiso Zuma and Siboniso Gaxa are not registered for the competition.
In fact, all 11 new 'Downs players are not eligible to play at this stage, but the club has a right to sign five more players for the next round.
"We will definitely exercise our right to register five players in the group stages to boost our team," Moloto told the official Sundowns website.
But despite travelling with a depleted squad, Moloto believes that they will do the job, adding: "We are going there aware of the challenges that lies ahead because we have a good idea of how they play. We have prepared for everything that
comes our way."
Moloto said the mission was to try and kill the game in the opening minutes, because "it is vital for the team to progress to the next round of the competition".
Meanwhile, captain Michael Manzini and fellow defender Luvhengo Mungomeni are doubtful starters for the El-Hodoud clash.
"We are hoping they will pass the late fitness test," explained Moloto. "Fortunately, Lerato Chabangu has been passed fit and he will be available for the game but we are keeping our fingers crossed that Manzini and Mungomeni are eligible to play."
Calvin Marlin and Fanyana Dhladhla were left behind because of injury and suspension, respectively, while Dillon Sheppard is not registered due to the serious leg injury that he sustained last season.
