South Africa development team coach Serame Letsoaka has named a 24-man squad that will represent SA in the COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Witbank, Mpumalanga from 18 July to 4 August 2008.

The coach is confident about the squad selected, saying: "This has not been an easy selection because we have been limited on how far we can go. As a result, we could not access most of the Premier League players.

"We are, however, grateful to all the clubs that have availed the players we have called to camp, because this is offering them an opportunity to represent their country. It is every player's dream to do so."

He added: "It is also a great opportunity for our players to impress the Bafana Bafana technical staff and prove that they also deserve consideration at that level. So, this makes it a good transitional point for the players to jumpstart or reignites their international careers.

"However, we have a fair balance of players and I have confidence in the players that we have assembled that they will fight all the way to make sure that South Africa retains the trophy won by Bafana Bafana in Bloemfontein last year."

The team will go to camp at Milpark, Johannesburg on Saturday, 19 July, where Letsoaka will use the two days to select his final 20 players for the tournament.

It will then go into an intense preparation camp in Nelspruit where the South African side will be based from 21-23 July.

"We will then move to Witbank to tackle our first match on 24 July. The team consists of 20 players and five officials," said team manager Barney Kujane.
