Former Dynamos and Moroka Swallows assistant coach Innocent Mayoyo has been appointed as the new head coach of National First Division (NFD) side Mpumalanga Black Aces.

'Ayobayo', as Mayoyo is commonly known in footballing circles, has signed a one-year contract with the ambitious Mpumalanga-based side.

"Aces are a big team and have a fantastic vision for the future. I wanted to be part of their revival and am delighted at being appointed," said Mayoyo.

He added: "I talk regularly to most coaches, especially those in the NFD and many of them are all talking about Aces. They have true support and a great future as a soccer team. There's a buzz about Aces and the directors are all equally passionate about the team."

Aces co-Chairman Mario Morfou said he was very impressed with his first meeting with Mayoyo.

"We spoke about the vision for the team and I really liked his knowledge of the game. He is also very passionate and has a real understanding of what we require of our head coach.

"Unlike the other coaches interviewed, we never even spoke about the money until the end of the meeting," explained Morfou.

Aces co-Chairman George Morfou said Mayoyo's mandate was to get Aces promoted to the Absa Premiership.

"And if he does will be well compensated," revealed Morfou. "Secondly, he is to work closely with our development teams."

The new coach will be introduced to the Aces players when they return from their off-season break on Wednesday.
