BidVest Wits captain Sibusiso Mahlangu believes his team will get back to winning ways when they host AmaZulu in an Absa Premiership match at BidVest Stadium on Friday night (kick-off 8pm).
The 'Clever Boys' lost to Kaizer Chiefs (4-1) and Ajax Cape Town (2-1) but the skipper said the struggling AmaZulu will find the hosts in an eager mood to win.
"Against Ajax I think we should have won or at least got a point," he said. "We played well in that game and should not have lost."
Wits succumbed to a Clayton Daniels header seconds from full time but Mahlangu said if the team plays the way they did in Cape Town then AmaZulu will leave empty handed.
"It's going to be a tough game against AmaZulu whose coach (Clive Barker) is under pressure because they have not been doing well. So they are desperate for points and I'm sure they'll be happy with even a point. But we can't allow that as we want to get back to winning ways," said the former SuperSport
United midfielder.
"If we show the same fighting spirit we did against Ajax then we will win and we're at home so it's added motivation to win."
Mahlangu admitted that Chiefs were the better team when they beat them at home but said they have learnt from that game.
"We have to learn from past games and improve. I think we showed improvement against Ajax and against AmaZulu we'll have to prove this (that we have learnt from past games). Three points is not an option in this case as we want to remain up there," he referred to their fifth place on the log with 17 points, two behind log leaders Golden Arrows.
