Jomo Cosmos Chairman Jomo Sono believes that he and his club have been vindicated in their case against winger Dikgang Mabalane.

This comes after the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) ruled that the Mabalane's contract with Cosmos, which runs until 2010, is valid.

The winger lodged a case against Cosmos at the end of last season after Sono blocked his move to Brondby IF in Denmark, with the Cosmos boss claiming that the winger still had a contract with his team.

Mabalane claimed that the signature on the new contract he signed with Cosmos had been forged and he wanted the DRC to declare him a free agent, but his claims were dismissed by the DRC.

"Cosmos and I have been vindicated," Sono told the official Cosmos website. "This should be a lesson to these kids to stop listening to fly-by-night agents. The ethical way to do things was for them to come to Cosmos and engage us in a proper manner."

He added: "Maybe we could have reached an amicable decision. But as things stand one has to pity the boy as it is him who's not playing, not his agent.

"Now that the issue should be over, I believe the agent may try to tell him to look at other avenues to fight the case. That's not going to work."

Sono believes he could not have done more for Mabalane, who he treated like a son.

"One would have thought he had learnt a lesson the first time he left us for SuperSport United and then later pleaded to be taken back. Apparently, he learnt nothing from those mistakes. As it is, I still want him to go to Mamelodi Sundowns as per my agreement with them."

Meanwhile, Sono also revealed that the club now intends taking legal action against former winger Anthony Laffor.

The Liberian is now on the books of SuperSport United with whom he had signed a pre-contract while still with Cosmos.

His action had led to Sono demoting him to train with the club’s Under-19 side until his contract expired at the end of the past season.

"He has been having a field day in the media saying all sorts of things about me and the club. We have been looking into all the allegations he has been levelling against us and the matter is now in the hands of our attorneys," concluded Sono.
