Wallaby lock Nathan Sharpe has admitted there is no guarantee for his selection for Saturday's Tri-Nations Test against South Africa, despite declaring himself fit and injury-free.

Sharpe trained strongly in Perth on Monday, saying he felt no ill-effects from the groin injury that kept him out of Australia's 40-10 win over France in Brisbane two weeks ago.

However, with Dan Vickerman making a promising return to club rugby last weekend and fellow second-rower James Horwill in good form, Sharpe admitted his place in the starting pack at Subiaco Oval was certainly not a given.

"There's no guarantees in this game, (coach Robbie Deans) will make a decision," Sharpe told rugbyheaven.com.

"Hopefully I'll get an opportunity. I had no problems at all today, it was very good."

Assistant coach Jim Williams said the decision on whether to bring back Vickerman would be made later in the week.

"It was his (Vickerman's) first game in five or six weeks (playing club rugby at the weekend) so he's a little bit tired at the moment, just working through things," Williams said.

"We'll wait and see how he finishes up the session this afternoon with weights and make another call on that later on."

Williams confirmed inside centre Berrick Barnes had recovered from a shoulder injury but the 22-year-old would be put to the test with a series of contact drills.

Wing Lote Tuqiri and number eight Wycliff Palu are also back in the fold respectively, returning from injuries that forced them out of the second Test against France.
