South Africa will name their strongest possible squad for the end-of-year tour to Wales, Scotland and England, despite recent reports to the contrary.

Andy Marinos, the acting Managing Director of SA Rugby (the almost defunct commercial arm of the South African Rugby Union - Saru), confirmed on Wednesday that a decision has been taken not to send a B-Team of Springboks on tour.

The Springbok selectors will meet in the week of the Currie Cup Final to discuss their choice and the squad will be named on the evening of 25 October, following the Final.

Marinos was speaking to quash reports that Springbok coach Peter de Villiers may rest some of his leading players for the tour.

"One of Peter's personal managers made some casual remarks to a reporter about Peter perhaps resting players for the end of year tour," said Marinos about reports in the local media.

"But we have agreed that following a final selection meeting, having viewed the Currie Cup comprehensively, the strongest possible team will be considered for the tour," said Marinos.

"We met the leading provinces at the conclusion of the Tri-Nations and discussed managing the players' workloads.

"But any suggestions attributed to the national coach that we will be resting players are absolutely incorrect."

De Villiers did say, in the immediate aftermath of South Africa's record 53-8 win over the Wallabies in August, that he may consider resting some "tired legs".

However, in subsequent meetings, as Marinos pointed out, the decision was taken to send the strongest team.
