Rossouw starts at flank
Article By:
Blue Bulls coach Frans Ludeke has selected Springbok discard Danie Rossouw at flank for Saturday's Currie Cup clash at Newlands against Western Province.
Rossouw comes in for the injured Wikus van Heerden and will play in a loose trio alongside Pedrie Wannenburg and Deon Stegmann.
Ludeke said at the weekly media conference at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday that it is a huge plus that Rossouw is available for the match and players like him are of enormous value to the Bulls.
"Players with experience like Danie, Wynand Olivier, Akona Ndungane and Pedrie Wannenburg are a luxury in the Currie Cup and they strengthen the team quite a lot," Ludeke told the official Bulls website.
"They are the guys that can keep their head under pressure and they tend to make the line-breaks and finish off the moves.
"It is never pleasant not to be involved with the Springboks, but they will contribute a great deal to our cause."
Ludeke did
not make any other changes to his starting XV that beat the Lions, but on the bench Francois Hougaard takes the place of Ruan Snyman, while Okkie Kruger will be the fifth forward on a 5-2 bench.
Hougaard was part of the Bulls Super 14 campaign and was immediately recalled on his return from the Under-20 World Cup.
Kruger was outstanding in the Vodacom Cup and his call-up a just reward for his consistent performances in the past few months.
