Big weekend of Premier Rugby
Posted Fri, 09 May 2008

It's a big weekend of rugby in and around Brisbane this weekend, with Premier Rugby matches on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, as well as Brisbane.

In Premier Rugby, Easts Tigers and the Gold Coast Breakers will do battle over second position on the ladder in Round Seven of the competition (kick-off 15.00 on Saturday at Albert Park, Gold Coast).

With both teams having won all but one of their games, all that separates second placed Gold Coast and the Tigers are two bonus points.

Easts have gone from strength to strength this season, with their enthusiasm and hard-hitting defence overcoming many of the leading teams, but Tigers head coach Pat Richards said Saturday will be their biggest challenge so far.

In other matches, fourth placed Brothers will be looking to claim maximum points from their match against last placed Sunshine Coast Stingrays at Stockland Stadium, Kawana (kick-off 15.15) and front runners Norths will be wary of a desperate Wests in their encounter at Shaw Park (kick-off 15.15) as Wests battle to keep their semifinal prospects alive.

Defending Premiers Sunnybank are also keen to stay in touch with the leading pack but will face a challenge from Souths at Chipsy Wood (15.15).

In the remaining match of the round, University hosts GPS at St Lucia (15.15).
