The Durban house of KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sbu Ndebele was burgled early on Friday morning, police said.
Both police spokesperson Director Phindile Radebe and Ndebele's spokesperson Logan Maistry confirmed the robbery, but could not provide any details.
Police sources told Sapa that there had been a robbery at Ndebele's Glenashley home at 4.28am.
Ndebele was not at the house at the time of the robbery. However, it is believed that several family members were asleep in the house.
The matter was reported by Enforce Security.
No arrests have been made yet. Police are investigating a case of housebreaking.
