Officials from the City of Tshwane and representatives of the SA Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) remained locked in talks on Tuesday evening, trying to end a strike which disrupted several services.
Samwu spokesperson Zebulon Monkoe said details on the talks would be provided after 7pm on Tuesday.
Scores of Tshwane municipal workers belonging to Samwu downed tools on Monday calling for fairer salary packages and labour practices.
This has affected several municipal services including the city's bus service.
Samwu's demands include a standardised salary grading system; it is also protesting against the implementation of a new service delivery model called Alternative Service Delivery (ASD) which has resulted in many of its members being demoted.
Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Corporate and Shared Services, Gabriel Thwala, said the strike was illegal.
"Any employee who participates in the strike shall be
subjected to disciplinary measures in line with disciplinary procedure, collective agreement and applicable legislation," said Thwala.
