Four men accused of gang-raping a 21-year-old Durban woman are to be charged in the Durban High Court, Pinetown magistrate Corel Language said on Tuesday.

A fifth man, Bongani Patrick Ntinga, pleaded guilty to armed robbery and rape in the Durban High Court and is awaiting sentencing.

The men allegedly raped Jessica Foord in a sugarcane plantation in Hillcrest on 2 March. The woman and her father had been at a dam at the time. Jessica Foord has decided to publicise the attack.

Language said the director of public prosecution had decided to charge the four accused in the High Court.

The four on Tuesday advised the court that they wished to apply for bail. The bail application was postponed to 22 May.

At court, two of the accused were granted a request to be kept in isolation while in police custody.
