A 54-year-old police inspector committed suicide in his garage in Vanderbijlpark on Monday, Johannesburg police said.

Police Inspector Mzimkhulu Mthimkulu said the policeman, from Vanderbijlpark, came home from work and went straight to the garage.

His body was found later by his wife, hanging from the ceiling.

A suicide note was found at the scene and an inquest docket was opened, Mthimkulu said.
