A man and a woman were found dead in their Soweto home on Wednesday, a week after they were last seen alive, police said.

Inspector Kay Makhubela said the bodies of the man (31) and woman (22) were found by the man's father in Zondi 1 at around 2pm.

"The father came to check on his son because he hadn't come to work. The doors were locked and when he looked through the window he saw the man and woman lying on the bed naked," said Makhubela.

Both had been shot once in the head.

He said a firearm, licensed to the man, was found lying next to the bodies. Two rounds had been used from the gun.

Police were investigating a case of murder and an inquest docket had also been opened.

It was not known when the two were killed.
