Several employees of the National Lotteries Board want chief executive Vevek Ram to be dismissed, saying they have lost confidence in him, the SABC reported on Wednesday.

A representative of the National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers said they were not happy with Ram's leadership style, calling it "bureaucratic and inept".

They had signed a vote of no confidence.

They urged the board to terminate his employment by the end of the month.

A union representative told the broadcaster: "We felt that the way in which he was running the organisation was affecting us as employees, our wellbeing and our ability to grow within the organisation was being hampered by his leadership style.

"We want Professor Vevek Ram to vacate office."
