The Communication Workers Union wants the Congress of South African Trade Unions to be included on the SABC's board, the Sunday Sun reported.

Union spokesperson Vulture Ntuluki said the SABC had not responded to its demand.

"They (the SABC) don't seem to realise the seriousness of our demand.

"This board does not represent all stakeholders, in particular labour.

"As a result of the squabbles between the board and the group CEO, Dali Mpofu, the annual salary negotiations and other matters of interest to workers have been suspended indefinitely."

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Nganyago said the public broadcaster would not comment.

"The SABC does not decide who has to be on the board. That decision is taken through a parliamentary process."
