Hundreds of people gathered in Johannesburg on Wednesday to protest
against the proposed 53 percent Eskom electricity tariff increase.
The Anti-Privatisation Forum, which has organised the protest, is
calling for the immediate resignation of Eskom managers and demands
that no bonuses be paid to management.
Spokesperson for the forum, Silumko Radebe, condemned the proposed
increase.
"The proposed tariff hike will negatively affect the living
standards of poor households and will be at odds with efforts to reduce
poverty," Radebe said.
