Calm restored in flats

Calm has been restored to the Kruger Park flats in central Pretoria on Wednesday, said Gauteng police.
"Calm has been restored. What is happening is that people are being assisted in collecting their belongings from the flats after which alternative accommodation will be arranged," said Sergeant Harris Seanego, after fires broke out at the flats on Tuesday.
Seanego said that tenants spent Tuesday night in the Akasia, Pretoria North and
Hammanskraal community halls.
"That was the accommodation arrangement for yesterday [Tuesday]," he said.
Tshwane Mayor Gwen Ramokgopa announced on Tuesday night that three people had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Six people — including a toddler — died in the incident.
She could not say if the three arrested were tenants at the flats.
The fire was allegedly started by residents of the Kruger Park flats after the Red Ants (security guards) began evicting
their neighbours in the Schubart Park block.
