A 19-year-old teenager was stabbed with an animal horn, then raped in the early hours of Saturday in Kareedouw, Eastern Cape police said on Sunday.

"The teenager was walking home from a local tavern when at about 1.30am she was accosted by an unknown male who had followed her," said police spokesperson Priscilla Naidu.

"He stabbed her twice in her shoulder before dragging her into the bushes between Kagiso Heights and Mountain View and raping her.

"It's alleged that the victim was stabbed with the sharp horn of an animal," said Naidu.

No arrests had been made.
