A Lichtenburg couple were found murdered on their farm on Monday night, police said on Tuesday.

Police Superintendent Carina Fourie said At and Katerina Deysel's neighbours saw their bakkie crashed on the side of the road and immediately tried to contact them at home.

On getting no reply they sped over to the farm and found At's body outside the house and Katerina's body lying inside.

Subsequent investigations established that besides the bakkie, four firearms and a cellphone were missing.

The dog unit, mounted police and organised crime units in the area were mobilised and a massive search was underway for the two people informants told police may have been responsible for the murders.
