South African auto exports soared by 70.2 percent, or 9307 units, year-on-year in April to 22 550 units, new data showed on Tuesday.
For the first four months of 2008, export sales reflected an impressive year on year improvement of 45.5 percent, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of SA said.
In contrast to the weak domestic sales environment, overall production of new motor vehicles is expected to increase substantially this year on the back of record exports of new vehicles.
