Italian MotoGP rider Marco Melandri has confirmed he will compete with the Japanese Kawasaki team from 2009.

Melandri, on a two-year deal with Ducati, has found it difficult to adapt to the powerful Italian engine of reigning world champion Casey Stoner.

He is currently 15th in the world championship standings with his best finish a fifth place at the China MotoGP.
