African fashion designers held a special show in Nairobi's national park to raise funds for victims of the post-electoral violence which swept Kenya this year.
Designers from Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal and Cameroon's Imane Ayissi took part alongside Kenyan counterparts in the event held on a podium in the game reserve near the Kenyan capital.
'Fashion for peace' was the brainchild of Ann McCreath, creator of the Kenyan label KikoRomeo, and was aimed at "attracting attention to the creativity in Kenya and on the African continent, as well as bringing hope and contributing to peace" by raising funds for people displaced by the political unrest after the disputed general elections.
Organisers said it was also hoped the event would boost tourism in Kenya which has been hard hit by the violence which left at least 1500 dead while 300 000 people fled their homes.
