Sultry siren with curls

Style and comments by Tesna Engelbrecht, Maverick Hair.

  • Prepare the hair with the appropriate ghd shampoo and conditioner (specific type depends on your hair type).

  • Apply ghd thermal protector on damp hair followed by ghd smoothing balm.

  • Blow-dry hair with ghd anti-static paddle brush.

  • Starting at the nape area, take a one-inch section, clipping the remaining hair neatly out of the way.

  • Use ghd creation spray on each section.

  • As you glide the ghd styler down the hair, slowly rotate it 180 degrees at the halfway point as with the classic ghd ribbon curling technique.

  • As you release the hair at the end gently wrap the curl around your finger for definition.

  • Continue all the way up the back of the head.

  • As you move towards the top and sides, comb your hair into the parting you desire.

  • Around the front hairline it is best to rotate the ghd styler towards the forehead.

  • Once all the hair is done gently separate curls with fingers — use ghd polishing serum for definition.

  • Secure some of the curls with hair grips just below the crown area — for extra height — backcomb crown slightly before securing curls.

  • Use ghd ultimate hairspray to keep curls in place.

  • Finish with ghd reflection spray for great shine.

Tips: For finer hair types that needs more texture and volume, use ghd sea spray in place of smoothing balm. For tighter longer lasting curls, pincurl set each section as soon as you unwind it and allow to cool down before loosening the pincurls.

Simple, glamourous ponytail

Style and comments by Paula Janse van Rensburg, Maverick Hair.

  • Prepare the hair with appropriate products from ghd thermodynamics range.

  • Spray ghd thermal protector on damp hair and blow dry with ghd paddle brush till dry.

  • Comb hair in desired parting.

  • Section hair from ear to ear.

  • Starting in the nape area, gently slide your ghd styler down the length of the hair, slightly curving the ends by twisting your wrist downwards.

  • Continue with this process throughout the back and sides and style the sides towards the face in the same motion.

  • Sweep hair to the same side as the parting and secure hair in a ponytail below the ear.

  • Take a section of hair in ponytail and wrap around the elastic — secure with hairgrips.

  • Finish style with ghd ultimate hairspray and ghd reflection shine spray.

Tips: For more height on crown area, mist ghd uplift spray on roots then use the ghd styler in a back brushing motion. Backcomb gently and finish with ghd ultimate hairspray.

  • Shampoo the hair with the appropriate products from the ghd thermodynamics range.

  • While hair is still damp spray ghd thermal protector on the hair to protect against heat styling.

  • Using a large round ghd ceramic brush, blow-dry hair as smooth as possible starting in the nape till hair is completely dry.
  • Section hair from ear to ear.

  • Starting in the nape use small even sections of hair and gently iron the hair from root to tip using your ghd styler.

  • Repeat this process through out the hair all the way to the top of the head and again repeat this process on the sides.

  • Finish off with some ghd polishing serum for normal to fine hair, or ghd shining serum for thicker coarser hair, work through the hair with your fingers from mid lengths to ends this will add shine and silkiness to the hair.

Tips: To create more volume in the hair, iron in a slightly upward direction from the root using some ghd uplift spray to assist you and use ghd fat hair lotion in stead of obedience cream.

  • Section hair halfway across the head from ear to ear.

  • Using ghd creation spray on each section (1 squirt per section ).

  • Start at the nape of the neck one section at a time.

  • As you glide the ghd styler down the hair, slowly rotate it 180 degrees at the halfway point as with the classic ghd ribbon curling technique.

  • As you release the hair at the end gently wrap the curl around your finger for definition.

  • Continue this method till you reach the top of the head and continue on the sides as with the back.

  • To create the small ribbon curls take small sections of hair and wrap it round the tail end of a metal tail comb and place the ghd styler over it for a few seconds and release.

  • Finish off by running fingers through the hair to break the curls and create a more textured, sexy, disheveled look.

  • End of by spraying some ghd reflection spray over the hair to create a brilliant shine.

Tips: For a more matt look use ghd sea spray liberally before blow dry and once the style is done, finish off by gently backcombing sections between your thumb and index finger.
